Where are you located?

Multicultural Career Center is a virtual practice that provides remote online therapy and career exploration services to persons in the District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia, South Carolina, and Pennsylvania.

Do you offer in-person services?

All sessions are offered virtually using a secure HIPAA compliant video platform.

What’s the difference between talking to you or my best friend or family?

The difference is between someone who can do something, and someone who has the training and experience to do that same thing professionally. A mental health professional can help you approach your situation in a new way– teach you new skills, gain different perspectives, listen to you without judgment or expectations, and help you listen to yourself. Furthermore, counseling is completely confidential. You won’t have to worry about others “knowing my business.” Lastly, if your situation provokes a great deal of negative emotion, and you’ve been confiding in a friend or family member, there is the risk that once you are feeling better you could start avoiding that person so you aren’t reminded of this difficult time in your life.

Do you prescribe medication?

Our therapists do not prescribe medication, but we do make referrals to appropriate doctors or psychiatrists if we determine medication may be helpful.

How long is each session?

Therapy sessions last between 50-55 minutes.

How long will I be in therapy?

Each person is different so length of time in therapy depends on therapy goals, availability, finances, and insurance benefits. Mental health therapy takes time, can be complex, and has a maintenance phase. Many times clients will return to therapy if and when needed.

Are you available after hours?

We do not provide 24-hour on call services. If you are experiencing a psychiatric emergency, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.
